FUNTASTIC
ISLAND ALISO VIEJO, CALIFORNIAHow does one promote fun in the sundrenched suburban culture of Southern California? How about a perpetual beach party...!? Exline Design was retained by MANAGEMENT RESOURCES of Tustin, California, to master plan and generate a project identity for the potential development of a Family Entertainment Center in Aliso Viejo, California. With the possible site being located only fifteen minutes from the sandy shores of the Pacific Coast, this FEC concept capitalized on the teenoriented surf and beach culture of the surrounding communities. The master plan organized the projects attractions around three circular plazas that offered outdoor snacking and dining under giant colorful beach umbrellas. Splashing water fountains were located around a central performance stage where local pop beachbands would play music on weekends and summer nights. Primary attractions included two gokart tracks, batting cages, a giant waterslide, and a miniature golf course with a really radical surfing theme... Gnarly Duuude! The developments primary facility was to be a 10,000 square foot video arcade that also featured a wellknown and popular fishtaco & burger franchise. Immediately adjacent to the arcade building was a heavily themed birthday party pavilion that could accommodate up to fifty guests. In the center of the development was a campfire ring designed for hangin out, cookin dogs, and listening to beach tunes under a starry summer night. ![]() |
