NATIONAL SALT WATER FISHING HALL OF FAME Westport, Washington Proposed for a five acre site along the shoreline of Halfmoon Bay in Westport, Washington, this interactive museum concept was conceived as the official national home of the Saltwater Sports Fishing industry. The small seaside community of Westport also viewed the attraction as a potential anchor supporting the rapidly expanding tourism industry of the Pacific Northwest. The facility compound was conceived as a series of low-profile structures carefully integrated
into the natural sand dune setting of the waterfront property. Situated
in the center of the complex was to be an iconic Giant Salmon
observation platform and lookout point.Exline Design worked closely with MANAGEMENT RESOURCES of Tustin, California, to generate the creative concept for the project. The teams objective was to creatively compose a series of interactive experiences that would educate, promote, and entertain guests for approximately a fourhour length of stay. The venue featured the Official Salt Water Fishing Hall of Fame with a formal inductee area; the Famous Anglers and Fish Stories gallery; Catch the Big One fish fighting simulator; Outwit A Fish" computer game; the Fish Fantasy Photo Parlor; and the Salmon Life Cycle walkthru exhibit. The attraction also housed the Saltwater Sports Fishing Official Archives, Library, and Resource Center capable of accommodating small conventions with meeting room facilities. To roundout the attractions mix, there was to be a childrens activity area called the Tide Pool, a small retail shop, and a seafood restaurant/pub called the Fish Tale & Liars Club. ![]() |
